$1,000 NRRTC scholarship deadline April 30

NORTH READING — The deadline of Wednesday, April 30 is fast approaching for high school seniors who reside in North Reading and attend any high school to apply for the North Reading Republican Town Committee (NRRTC) $1,000 Scholarship.

Being a Republican is not a requirement. This is a non-partisan scholarship intended to promote higher education. The recipient must be accepted into a college/university, or four-year trade school by April 30.

Applicants are required to write an essay answering the prompt, “What the American Flag Means to Me.” No financial information is necessary. This is not a need-based scholarship. In addition to the essay, a completed application and a letter of recommendation from a teacher is required. It can be the same letter used for your college applications.

To request a scholarship application, please contact Irene Yull via email: iyull@verizon.net. All required documents must be received by midnight on April 30, 2025.

The scholarship recipient will be announced at his/her graduation. Presentation of the award to the recipient by the NRRTC will take place on Flag Day, June 14, at a celebratory gathering on the North Reading Common. The $1,000 award will be sent directly to the recipient’s college of choice prior to the start of his/her freshman first semester.
