NORTH READING — Great news for Georgie and Paige! Both pups featured in last week’s Transcript in the new Rock ’n Rescue of North Reading column will go to their forever homes this week!
Now let’s hope that this week’s featured dogs are both as fortunate!
Mama Ashe
Meet our resilient Mama Ashe, in need of a loving home! Mama Ashe’s journey has been one of resilience and determination. She came into our care under challenging circumstances, very pregnant, after enduring hardships that would test even the strongest spirits. Despite her past, she has shown us the incredible capacity of dogs to forgive and love.
Mama Ashe is a mixed-breed beauty with a heart of gold approximately 4 years old and 50 lbs.. She’s a medium-sized girl with expressive eyes that tell a story of her past but also reflect her hope for a brighter future. She has a gentle nature and a loving disposition that she is eager to share with a new family. Mama Ashe is quite the couch potato, and it is well deserved after the life she has lived. She spends her days sleeping, going on walks and enjoying an occasional playtime.

Her ideal home would include the following:
Patience: Mama Ashe has been through a lot, so her new family should be patient as she continues to adjust to her surroundings.
Love and Attention: She craves love and attention. She’s ready to give all her love in return for a safe and caring environment.
Gentle Guidance: Ashe is eager to learn and please. Positive reinforcement training will help her blossom into the best companion. She is both potty and crate-trained.
*Name: Mama Ashe (spayed female)
*Age: Approximately 4 years old
*Current Weight: 54 pounds
*Rescued from: Texas (will travel with an approved adopter or foster)
*Adoption fee: $550 (includes $50 refundable positive training commitment deposit)
*Health: Up to date on vaccines
Meet Maple
When our founder, Francine Coughlin of North Reading, was contacted about Maple’s story she knew we needed to help. Maple has spent most of her life, over one year, in a shelter in a small and dirty kennel run. Despite her rough start in Texas, Maple is as sweet as syrup and will no longer be overlooked. She is thriving in foster! She loves to hang under her foster mom’s desk while she does Zoom calls and chill in the yard in her jammies. She loves to snooze and play! Her name is especially appropriate because she has “sticky fingers” when it comes to Kong balls – she is obsessed with them!
She loves to play her version of fetch, where you throw it once, and she races to pick it up, but she never actually brings the ball back to you. She prefers to hold on to it herself and will run around with it in her mouth tossing it up in the air for herself – no need to throw it again! She does like it if you chase after her for it so she can show off her keep-away skills. She’s an expert!
Another great love of Maple’s is treats. The only way we found to get a ball back from her is to offer her a treat! She’s got to drop the ball to eat it, after all! Maple came into the shelter wearing a harness, so she had an owner at one point. Unfortunately, she had no identification, and no owners ever came looking. She is potty and crate-trained and will sit on command. Maple is a friendly girl who is looking for a happy home to love her for life. She would do best with no other pets in the home and a fenced in yard, if possible. She is very strong on leash and working on her loose-leash walking!

HOW TO ADOPT FROM R-N-R
To apply to adopt, fill out an application at www.rescueallthedogs.org/adopt. Please note that RnR is a volunteer-based organization. While volunteers review applications as quickly as possible, it is helpful if you review the following information about our adoption process:
LISTED BREED(S) & AGE: We are taking our best guess on age, breed, and size when fully grown based on the dog’s physical appearance and what we might have learned about one or both parents. We rarely know a dog’s exact age or full breed mix of dogs, as our information is usually limited.
RNR’s ADOPTION PROCESS: The first step in adopting or meeting one of our adoptable pups is to fill out an application at www.rescueallthedogs.org/adopt. Once we receive your application, one of our volunteers will contact you, review our adoption process, and answer any additional questions you may have. It is important to note that we do not go on a first-come-first-serve basis for adoptions but on the best fit for a family and, most importantly, the dog.
MEETING ADOPTABLE DOGS: Meet and greets will not be scheduled until your adoption application is submitted and reviewed.
APPLYING ONLINE: When completing an application, please do so from a computer (not a mobile device); make sure you answer all the questions in as much detail as possible, and that you receive a confirmation email. Go to: www.rescueallthedogs.org/adopt.
