NORTH READING — The 4th-annual North Reading Tennis Open will take place on Oct. 4 and 5 at the North Reading High School tennis courts. The first-day matches are slated to start at 8 a.m.
The tournament is being run by North Reading High boys’ tennis coach Mark Bisognano and girls’ tennis coach Matt Tiberii and the money raised will go to both North Reading High teams.
“A lot of the money raised will go to put up wind screens to put along the fence,” explained Bisognano, as the screens will cut down the wind factor.
There are two different levels the tournament is being split up in, the junior division (ages 17 and younger) and the adult division (18 and over).
The junior division will have a singles and doubles tournament for boys and girls. The adult division will have a men’s singles and doubles event and a women’s singles and doubles event.
There is also a mixed doubles event for the adult division.
This tournament is open to anybody, regardless of experience or hometown, and is $30 per player. If a player wants to compete in different events (single, doubles or mixed doubles) it is $30 for each different event.
Prizes will be awarded for all of the winners and all of the runners-up in each format.
Players can register on the North Reading town website (www.northreadingma.gov and click on Parks and Recreation) to register.
