Three-month trash strike ends

NORTH READING — Late last week it was announced by both Republic Services and the Teamsters Local 25 that the strike of nearly three months had been settled.

Beginning this past Monday, September 22, Republic’s regular trash and collection crews were back at work in town.

The North Reading Department of Public Works (DPW) anticipates that there could be some changes to the routines established by temporary crews over the summer, and therefore requests that residents put both trash and recycling curbside by 6 a.m. on their regular collection day because trash and/or recycling could be collected earlier or later than it had been during the summer.

If your trash or recycling is not collected on your regular day, then notify the DPW by calling 978-357-5260.
