Dog lover who enjoyed Boston sports teams
MARLBOROUGH — Ann Hassinger, 79, of Marlborough, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at the UMass Memorial Medical Center.
She was born on April 6, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was the cherished daughter of Harold Bertram Hassinger and Virginia (Means) Hassinger.
Ann grew up in Melrose and North Reading then graduated from North Reading High School in 1963. She attended the Katharine Gibbs School, graduating in 1964, which set the stage for her diverse professional life.
Ann had a distinguished career with IBM in Waltham for 30 years working in various sales support functions. After her retirement from IBM, she started her own company, The Perfect Solution, which provided administrative support to clients in the Boston area for 10 years. She concluded her professional career at Sunovion Pharmaceuticals as an HR and Compliance Administrator.
Being outgoing and fun-loving Ann made many friends everywhere she went. She was passionate about her hobbies actively participating in a softball league, a bowling league, school and company reunions, attending Red Sox games and regular visits to Dunkin’ in Marlborough.
Her love for animals was evident when she later found joy in working as a pet sitter and became very fond of the dogs she cared for where the client’s dogs would become “her dogs.” For Ann there was only one thing better than watching her beloved Boston sports teams with a treat from Dunkin’ and that was being with “her dogs.”
Ann is survived by her three brothers, Robert (Linda) of Grafton; Richard (Debbie) of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; and Norman and his partner (Tracy) of Grafton; and her nephew, William (Megan) of Amherst.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ann may be made to the ASPCA, reflecting her love for animals. Visit aspca.org.
