Sports fan proudly belonged to local Knights of Columbus
NORTH ANDOVER — Charles W. Hersey Jr., 73, of North Andover, passed away on October 13, 2023. Charles was born on January 19, 1950 in Somerville to the late Charles and Marion (Wilkins) Hersey.
Charles worked in the state’s Treasurer’s office, serving as a computer operator. He was a proud member of both the United States Junior Chamber (Jaycees) and the Knights of Columbus in North Reading, where he was a Third Degree Knight and served as Grand Knight for the North Reading 4544 Council in his lifelong time with the fraternal organization.
Charles was an avid sports fan, and loved the Patriots, Red Sox and the Bruins. Charles would watch the NFL and college football on Sundays, and he would call the plays before the announcers. He loved sports and would watch games all day.
Charles was a dedicated grandfather to Jacob, Christopher and Daniel. He would help them onto their school buses in the mornings and watch them in the afternoon after school. He was very proud of his grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his loving daughter Jennifer (Hersey) Nevins and her family: Shane Nevins, Jacob Nevins, Christopher Nevins and Daniel Nevins. Charles is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Charles was predeceased by his sister Marion Davis and his two brothers, Bobby and Tommy Hersey.
