WOBURN — Dorothy Louise (Cassidy) Sardy, a longtime resident of Woburn, died peacefully on October 10, 2023 at the age of 92. She was the beloved wife of 51 years to the late Joseph H. Sardy, Jr.
Born in Boston and raised in Lynnfield, Dorothy was the only child of the late Bernard J. and Agnes L. (Tierney) Cassidy. She graduated from St. Jean Baptiste High School in Lynn and attended Wilson Stenographic School in Boston.
Dottie worked as a secretary for River Works/General Electric. Joe and Dottie married and lived briefly in Wilmington and Tewksbury before settling in Woburn. Dottie was a rare example of an adventurous spirit, yet someone who deeply understood the value of hard work, responsibility and community care.
She was an excellent cook, photographer, country music lover, avid gardener and a voracious reader. She cherished her most special moments with her family at their vacation home in New Hampshire, a home they built with the help of family members and close friends. She also enjoyed traveling, socializing, attending country fairs, spending time at the ocean, and competing fiercely in board games.
Dottie became a 4-H Leader, motivated by her desire to help her children build leadership skills and self-confidence. She often shared stories of embracing challenges, from learning diverse activities like cooking, arts and crafts and public speaking. She dedicated many years of service as an active Middlesex County 4-H Program volunteer. Her affection for this organization has been passed throughout her family and remains strong today.
She will be greatly missed by her children: Louise M. Donahue and her husband Kevin of Westford; Joanne M. Yelle and her husband Shaun of Hampton Falls, N.H.; Pamela J. Sardy of Nashua, N.H.; Joseph B. Sardy of Lynnfield; Robert Scott Sardy and his husband Jeremy “JD” Schulz of Woburn; Ellen T.
