STEADY PROGRESS was being made reconstructing the Park Street Bridge, which spans Martins Brook near the Masonic Lodge, last Thursday afternoon. Last month, the town was awarded a $500,000 MassDOT grant under the Municipal Small Bridge Program created in 2016 specifically to help cities and towns rehabilitate or replace bridges on public ways with spans of 10–20 feet because federal law does not recognize structures with spans of less than 20 feet as bridges. In 2022, the town also received a $100,000 grant to design the bridge. Both awards were the maximum allowed. (Maureen Doherty Photo)
