Tomorrow’s entrepreneurs compete at state finals

North Reading High School DECA triumphs at State Career Development Conference

NORTH READING — In a remarkable display of talent and determination, North Reading High School DECA members showcased their business and entrepreneurial prowess at this year’s State Career Development Conference (SCDC) in Boston from March 7-9, 2024.

The journey began in Boxborough, where 131 students from North Reading High School competed in various events on December 12 and 13, 2023 at the District 4 Regional Competition. Thirteen outstanding individuals emerged as finalists at the district level, earning their tickets to the prestigious SCDC.

The commendable finalists from North Reading High School were Ava Mericantante, Maya Menis, Karina Mountain, Cassie Fitts, Mahir Mugdho, Eli Hunt, Parker Lee, Torin Nickerson, Badr Ourdyl, Mahdi Queiri, Jackson Wesley, Owen Phillips and Benji Ferreira.

Heartfelt congratulations are extended to Cassie Fitts, Eli Hunt and Mahir Mugdho for their exceptional achievements, securing their places as finalists at the state conference. Their dedication and outstanding performances have not only brought pride to North Reading High School DECA but also exemplify the club’s commitment to excellence.

North Reading High School DECA, established in 2019, has rapidly grown into a thriving club, fostering a community of ambitious and talented students. Under the guidance of faculty advisor Nicole Pierce, the club has become a hub for students interested in business and entrepreneurship, providing them with valuable opportunities to develop essential skills for their future careers.

“The success of North Reading High School DECA members at the SCDC is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion that these students bring to the table. As they continue to hone their skills and pursue excellence, the future looks bright for these aspiring business leaders.
