NORTH READING — The Veterans Department is hosting a Comedy Improv Series with comedian Jody Sloane. It starts Monday, May 5 and will run weekly for a total of six weeks.

Recognizing the many health benefits of laughter can help us understand the importance of adding more humor into our lives. The physical health benefits of laughter include: Boosts immunity, improves heart health, reduces metabolic syndrome risk, increases longevity, eases pain, protects physical function, strengthens the core. The mental health benefits of laughter include: Lowers stress, improves depression, serves as a distraction, changes our perspective.
