Youth cross country teams impress in second race at Ipswich River Park

NORTH READING — The North Reading youth cross country team competed against five teams on Thursday, Oct. 19 at Ipswich River Park in a 1.7 mile race.

The girls’ team went undefeated, taking down Reading, Wakefield, Methuen and Andover.

The team was led by Paige Vant (1st), Maddie Duffy (2nd), Parker Burnham (5th), Bridget MacDonald (14th), Sophia Garibotto (15th), Brooke Crowley (25th) and Conseuelo Andverson (30th) who were the top 7 finishers for the Hornets in a race that had a total of 84 runners.

Vant lowered her course record covering the 1.7 mile distance in 10:03, which was a 5 second improvement on her performance from the previous week.

On the boys’ side the Hornets lost to a strong Reading team but beat Wakefield, Methuen and Andover. The boys’ team was led by Pierce Burnham (6th), Liam Steele (7th), Ryan Perroti (21st), Cole Donahue (23rd), Aidan Steele (39th), Dominic Spada (45th) and Ryan DiCarlo (47th) who were the top 7 finishers for the Hornets in a race that had a total of 130 runners.
