Avid reader who enjoyed the beach
MELROSE — Paula (Zani) Pellegrino, 68, of Melrose; formerly of Cambridge passed away on October 3. Born on April 2, 1955, to Caesar and Florence Zani. Paula graduated from North Cambridge Catholic High School in 1973. After high school, she went on to receive three master’s degrees in education. She was a dedicated teacher for over 30 years. In 1978, she met the love of her life Paul Pellegrino and they were married in 1980. Paula is predeceased by her parents Caesar and Florence Zani. Paula is survived by her husband Paul; sisters Linda Gorgone and Angela Zani; brother John Zani,; son Nicholas Pellegrino and his wife Melissa; granddaughter Isabella; and daughter Marissa Fossa and her husband Theodore.
Paula was an avid reader and loved reading all books. She passed this love along to her family and especially her granddaughter. She enjoyed spending her summers on Cape Cod relaxing at the beach and breathing in the salt air. At her core Paula was dedicated to her family. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her husband, children, granddaughter and friends.
Visiting hours was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, MA on Monday, October 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary’s Church, 4 Herbert St., Melrose on Tuesday, October 10 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. In lieu of flowers, donations were made to the American Heart Association at heart.org or to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at danafarber.jimmyfund.org.
