Peggy Elkins, 90

WAKEFIELD — Peggy Ann (Riedemen) Elkins, age 90 of Wakefield died on Tuesday, January 14 at Sunrise Senior Living in Lynnfield after a lengthy illness. She was the loving wife of the late Robert Elkins with whom she shared 56 years of married life. She was born in Boston on August 4, 1934 and was the daughter of the late George and Alice (Jordan) Riedemen. Peggy was raised in Wellesley and Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1953 and attended The Chandler School for Women. She raised her family where she created a warm and loving home in Wakefield. She returned to the work force after raising her family and retired from Digital Equipment Corporation. Peggy was a long-time member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church where she volunteered for the Alter Guild along with many other church committees.  

Peggy is survived by her daughter Pamela J. McLean and her husband Brian of Groveland; and her son Stephen R. Elkins and his wife Katherine of Franklin. She is predeceased by her son Kenneth D. Elkins and survived by her daughter-in-law Cheryll (Ells) Elkins of FL. She was the brother of the late Robert Reidemen and the late Richard Nelson. She was the grandmother of Justin, Timothy, Zachary, Nicholas and Julia Elkins and the great grandmother of Finley and Griffin Elkins. 

A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday, January 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. Her funeral service will be held in the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 5 Bryant St., Wakefield on Wednesday, January 22 at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
