A HUMMINGBIRD MOTH rapidly flaps its wings while extracting nectar from a flower with its beak-like proboscis. Mother Nature imbued the insect with the characteristics of the tiny hummingbird. It darts from flower to flower at about 12 mph. (Maureen Doherty Photo)
