WAKEFIELD — The final week of the Wakefield Twi League’s regular season is approaching Moulton Park with five teams battling for four playoff spots.

The Brewers (10-0) are the only squad oblivious to the standings as they look to wrap up another perfect regular season with two games to go.

The High Life (2-8) are the only team eliminated. They can make it close with two games left but the Expos (4-6-1, 4th) can’t finish below the Life even with a loss in their final game.

The Loafers (4-7, 5th) and Unknowns (4-5, 3rd) join the ‘Spos in battling for a playoff spot with the Unknowns in the best position as they have three games to play while the Loaf and Expos have just one. Two out of three will make it in.

As it stands, the Loafers will need to beat the Unknowns on Tuesday night at Moulton in order to have a chance.

The Slappers (5-3-1, 2nd) vs. Unknowns game scheduled for last night was rained out. A makeup date was…well…unknown as of press time.

The Expos are slated to take on the Unknowns tonight, depending on field conditions after last night’s heavy storm.

The schedule for next week, with all games currently set for 5:45 p.m. at Moulton has the Slappers vs. High Life on Monday, the Loafers vs. Unknowns on Tuesday, the Brewers vs. High Life on Wednesday and the Slappers vs. Brewers on Thursday.

The Brewers are going for their fifth consecutive Twi League championship this year. The playoffs will likely start the week of Aug. 11.
