Reach Leadership’s 7th Hope for the Holidays Dec. 13

By RAESSLER GUTHRIE

MELROSE — Join Melrose High School’s Reach Leadership at the 7th annual Hope for the Holidays event featuring talent from local musicians, dancers, magicians and more from the Melrose community. Last year, the event raised $1,300 for families battling childhood cancer. This year’s event will be graciously hosted at Temple Beth Shalom on December 13 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The MHS Reach Leadership is a branch of the nationwide organization, Family Reach. Its mission is to remove the financial barriers standing between cancer patients and their treatment. Camille Wahl, Melrose ‘21, started the branch at Melrose High School to give back to Family Reach. Current Co-President and Melrose senior, Lara Flank-Contin shares, “Reach Leadership has worked very hard on putting together this event, we hope to see a large turnout from community members and hit a goal of raising $2,000.”

In recent years, Hope for the Holidays has included acts from high school students and local community members. This year’s performers include Clio MoocK. Organizers are looking for a wide variety of Melrose community members to perform, if you are interested, contact jaya.karamcheti@melroseschools.com for more information.

In addition to performances, Hope for the Holidays includes a bake sale and raffle of a variety of items generously donated by Melrose businesses. This year’s raffle items include a Melrose sweatshirt from Mothership of All Designs, Molly’s Bookstore book basket, and a coffee maker from Hugo’s Appliance, and a wide variety of gift certificates to Melrose businesses! If you or your company is interested in making a monetary, baked good, or raffle donation, contact kensington.ludlum@melroseschools.com.

Reach Leadership hopes to see the community at this festive night of entertainment! All are welcome to join us. Follow @MHSReachLeadership on Instagram and Facebook for more information!
