Active in Minit and Militia, coached Little League

NORTH READING — Richard Lawrence “Dick” Burt, 76, a longtime resident of North Reading, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020 in Haines City, Florida.
He was born in Boston on December 7, 1943 and was a son of the late Lawrence and Norma Burt. He was the brother to Laurel Lynch and her husband Russel of South Carolina, the late Debra Staples and the late Robert Swenson.
Dick was the beloved husband of Janet (Nolan) Burt with whom he shared the last 54 years. He was the father of Brian Burt and his wife Stacey of Tewksbury, Jon Burt and his wife Wendy of North Reading and the late Steven Burt of North Reading. He was the grandfather of Sara Burt and Nathan Burt and the uncle of many nieces and nephews.
In the 1980s he was very active in North Reading, coaching Little League for his sons’ teams. He was also a member of the town’s Minit and Militia which would conduct many memorial events and was proud to be a part of moving the West Village School House to where it is today on the grounds of the Rev. Daniel Putnam House on Bow Street.
He was a career truck driver and also a proud member of Teamsters Local 42 for many years. He also owned and operated a small trucking company in the town of North Reading.
Services will be private at a future date and time.
