LYNNFIELD — The Select Board unanimously approved a proclamation commemorating Girl Scout Week during a March 10 meeting.
Select Board Chair Dick Dalton noted that Girl Scout Week took place Sunday, March 9 through Saturday, March 15.
“March 12, 2025 marks the 113th anniversary of Girl Scouts of the USA, founded by Juliette Gordon Low in 1912 in Savannah, Georgia,” said Dalton while reading the proclamation. “Throughout its distinguished history, Girl Scouting has inspired millions of girls and women with the highest ideals of courage, confidence and character to take action to make their local communities and the world a better place. Girl Scouting connects girls to a world of possibilities in a positive, girl-led environment, where girls are inspired to discover their passions and empowered to reach their full potential.”
Dalton continued: “More than 2.8 million current Girl Scout members nationwide, including 178 current members in Lynnfield, will be celebrating 113 years of this American tradition, with 59 million women who are former Girl Scouts and living proof of the impact of this amazing movement. Therefore, we the Select Board of Lynnfield do hereby applaud the commitment Girl Scouting has made to America’s girls and proudly proclaim the week of March 9-15, 2025 as Girl Scout Week.”
The meetings attendees gave the Girl Scouts in attendance and all of the Girl Scouts in town a round of applause.
