MELROSE — The following is a statement from Mayor-elect Jennifer Grigoraitis. She won an impressive victory in Tuesday’s City Election over Monica Medeiros Solano and will succeed Paul Brodeur in January.
“Thank you, Melrose! I am honored to be your Mayor-elect.
“As I said on Election Night, I may have been the one with my name on the signs, and on the ballot, but this is really not about me. This is about all of us, our community, and our shared future.
“I am so grateful that Melrose voters supported our vision and plan for moving Melrose forward. By working together, I am hopeful that we will accomplish so much for our city and its residents. I look forward to collaborating with stakeholders from across the community to start this important work immediately.
“I want to especially thank my husband Bill, our children Graham and Reid, my parents and in- laws, my sister, and my entire family for your love and support.
“I had the opportunity to speak with Monica on Tuesday night, and while I know we have different ideas for how to lead this community, I also know that she is deeply committed to Melrose. I want to thank her for stepping up, running a positive campaign, and for all she has done and will continue to do for Melrose.
“Congratulations, as well, to all the incoming City Councilors and School Committee Members, and many thanks to their families and supporters. I look forward to working with you on behalf of our great city.
“Again, my sincere thanks. Together, we will move Melrose forward.”
