Finance Committee member was dedicated to family, community
LYNNFIELD — Stephen E. Riley, 57, of Lynnfield, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024.
Born on April 4, 1967, in Everett, Stephen was the son of the late Joseph E. Riley, Jr. and Marilyn Louise (English) Riley. He was a proud alumnus of UMass-Amherst and demonstrated a strong commitment to his community throughout his life in Lynnfield. Stephen actively participated in various local organizations, including the Rotary Club, youth sports programs and the Finance Committee.
In addition to his community involvement, Stephen was a member of the Masons and the Elks. A passionate sports fan and golf enthusiast, he also had a fondness for Western movies. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family.
He was the loving husband of Michelle L. (Wasak) and the adoring father of Spencer J. Riley and Vanessa B. Riley, both of Lynnfield. He was the brother of Kathi Yergin and her husband Jerry of Lison Falls, Maine; and Richard Riley and his significant other Julie of Peabody. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held in the Centre Congregational Church, 5 Summer St., Lynnfield on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
A private burial for family will take place at a later date at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. The McDonald Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to https://gofund.me/843089de.
