WAKEFIELD — The Middlesex League girls’ hockey coaches met recently to vote on All-Stars for the 2024-25 season.
Wakefield had two All-Stars make the list: senior captain Maddy Taylor and junior captain Rory McNeill.
Taylor led Wakefield’s defense and also helped jumpstart the offense with her playmaking in her final season after a terrific four-year career.
“Maddy brought consistent, reliable defense for four years,” said head coach Jacqui Mansfield. “She stepped up into a leadership role this season and left a legacy she can be proud of especially with our young team.”
McNeill led Wakefield’s forward group, finishing with 9 goals and 8 assists.
“Rory is a great all-around player,” said Mansfield. “She reached 62 career points this year with 33 goals and 29 assists. We are excited for her to try and break 100 next season in her last year with us.”
The Warriors worked through a tough schedule this year and gained experience for their young team which featured eight 8th-graders. Taylor and McNeill were the only two upperclassmen this season. The highlights of the year included a 3-1 win over Lexington, a 3-3 tie against rival Melrose and 3-2 victory over Medford.
