Thanksgiving Dinner for town’s seniors at Hillview

NORTH READING — The town’s senior citizens are invited to attend the annual Thanksgiving Dinner at Ultra Chic at Hillview Country Club, 149 North St., on Sunday, November 19 beginning at 1:30 p.m. Doors will open at 12:45 p.m. and the dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m. The event will be held in the facility’s beautiful ballroom.

The North Reading Thanksgiving Dinner has been an annual tradition for more than 40 years. Hosted by Representative Brad Jones, his wife Linda Jones and Senator Bruce Tarr in coordination with the North Reading Council on Aging, this year’s event will feature a traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings. Guests will enjoy the return of the “Dancing DJ.”

“My wife Linda, Senator Tarr and I are pleased to be able to carry on this special holiday tradition for North Reading’s senior citizens,” said Rep. Jones. “This event would not be possible without the generosity of the local businesses and individuals who partner with us to help make the annual dinner such a success.”

“The Thanksgiving dinner is a wonderful opportunity to get together with the senior citizens and neighbors who make North Reading such a strong and close community. I’m honored to be able to co-host this dinner once again with Minority Leader Jones and his wife Linda,” said Sen. Tarr.

The dinner is free and open to all North Reading residents over the age of 60, but reservations are required. Call the North Reading Senior Center today at 978-664-5600 to make your reservation to join us in person. The deadline for reservations is Wednesday, November 15.

All attendees, who are able, are asked to bring a non-perishable, non-expired food item for donation to the North Reading Food Pantry. At this time, the most needed items include: canned pasta with meat (SpaghettiOs with meatballs, meat ravioli, etc.), canned chili, family sized snacks and individual sized snacks, instant oatmeal packets, canned white tuna in water, hearty soups (Progresso, Chunky, etc.), cereal, cake mixes and frosting, sides – rice or pasta (Knorr’s, Uncle Ben’s, Rice-A-Roni, etc.).

Please note the Food Pantry does not need canned vegetables at this time. Guests who prefer to make a monetary donation, please put it in a sealed envelope marked: “North Reading Food Pantry” and include your name and address.
