MELROSE — The City of Melrose is sharing the following updates for the upcoming week: 

State of the City Address available on MMTV 

Mayor Jen Grigoraitis’ 2025 State of the City Address will premiere on MMTV this weekend! Tune in to MMTV on your local access cable station or visit www.mmtv3.org to hear the mayor’s update on the status of important city initiatives and City Hall’s plans for the year ahead. 

City Hall elevator maintenance on Feb. 7 

The elevator at Melrose City Hall will undergo routine maintenance and be unavailable for use on Friday, February 7 between 11 a.m. and City Hall’s closure at 12:30 p.m. During this time, the first and second levels of City Hall will only be accessible via the stairs. Residents needing assistance between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Friday can speak with Engineering Department staff on the ground level of City Hall or call the Mayor’s office at (781) 979-4440. 

Planning Board-City Council hearing on Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) Feb. 10 

The Melrose Planning Board and City Council will hold a joint public hearing on Monday at 7:30 p.m. to discuss possible zoning amendments related to Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), also known as “in-law apartments.” The Affordable Homes Act, signed last year by Governor Healey, amends the State’s Zoning Law to allow ADUs in all single-family properties by-right.
