NORTH READING — Hey seniors, it’s time to break out your dancing shoes and fancy outfits for a night of fun, friendship and food at The Real Senior Prom!
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of many people in the community, any senior in town age 60-plus is invited to attend The Real Senior Prom free of charge.
The celebration is being held at the Hillview Country Club, 149 North St., on Wednesday, September 27 from 4-7 p.m.
And reservations are now being accepted. “We hope to have 150 to 200 seniors sign up,” Senior Center Director Kim Manzelli told the Transcript. Manzelli noted that more than 70 seniors have already made their reservations, but there are still plenty of seats left.
All seniors need to do is call the Senior Center at 978-664-5600 to reserve their seat and the organizers will do the rest. Table reservations may also be accommodated to enable groups of friends to sit together. Transportation is available for those who need it, upon request.
How is it possible to throw such a party for free?
It is all due to the generosity of the hosts, North Reading residents Peter Accolla and Laina Simone and their large network of friends, including a partnership with The Friends of the North Reading Council on Aging and many other residents in town who have given generously to cover the cost of what would have been a $40 ticket.
Accolla, who is the founder of NuImage Entertainment, will be spinning the tunes, and Simone, who has organized past events to bring joy to local seniors, such as delivering annual Valentine treat bags of donated items to ensure they are not forgotten on the holiday, have joined forces to make this night of fun come to fruition. They are throwing this party to acknowledge and show appreciation for all of the many contributions the town’s senior citizens have made.
In addition to dancing, seniors will enjoy food, refreshments and even a Photo Booth at their Real Senior Prom. So gather your friends, polish your dancing shoes and break out your Sunday best. It’s bound to be a night to remember!
