LYNNFIELD — Three Lynnfield High girls’ basketball players were recently named Cape Ann League All-Stars this season. One Pioneer made the CAL First Team All-Stars while two others made the Second Team.

The First Team All-Star was Hayden Valiton who made the First Team for the second consecutive season. The sophomore led the team in scoring averaging 11.5 points per game. Valiton, a forward, also averaged 5 rebounds and 2 steals per game.
“She had double-doubles for us in 13 of our 21 games,” pointed out Pioneers head coach Sue Breen. “She had some monster games for us this year and she progressed a lot from last season.”
The two Second Team All-Stars are Chloe Grieves and Erika Pasquale.

Grieves, a freshman forward, led the Pioneers in rebounds averaging 13 per game.
“She is undersized, so it is incredible how many rebounds she collects,” said Breen. “She had three games this year that she had over 20 rebounds.”
She was also second in scoring on the team averaging 8 points per game.
“Her scoring came on strong during the second half of the year,” said Breen.
Grieves recorded eight double-doubles this season.

Pasquale, a senior guard, led the team in assists and blocks this winter.
“She was our best defensive player,” stated Breen. “She can cover guards, forwards and even some centers.”
Her highest scoring game came in the regular-season finale as she had 14 points in a must-win game over Swampscott that allowed the team to qualify for the state tournament.
“She missed five games due to an injury early in the season and was a big help when she came back,” said Breen.
This is the second time Pasquale made the CAL Second-Team All-Stars as she also made it as a sophomore two years ago.
The Pioneers were edged, 39-37, by visiting Groton-Dunstable in the preliminary round of the MIAA Division 3 state tournament back on Feb. 25 to finish at 9-12 overall.
In the CAL, they came in 4th place in the Kinney Division going 7-8 in league play.
