Town recognizing Purple Heart Day Sunday, Monday nights

LYNNFIELD — The town will be commemorating Purple Heart Day on the evenings of Sunday, Aug. 6 and Monday, Aug. 7.

Americans pause on Aug. 7 to remember and honor the brave men and women who were either wounded on the battlefield or paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. The town will recognize Aug. 7 as Purple Heart Day, and urges people and organizations in town to display the American Flag, as well as public expressions of recognition of Purple Heart recipients.

To recognize and honor Lynnfield’s Purple Heart recipients, as well as those from across our great country, the town will project an image of the Purple Heart on the side of our Meeting House the evenings of Aug. 6 and 7.

When people drive by, Veterans Services Officer Bruce Siegel encourages them to “remember that there is a price for the freedoms we enjoy and honor that is due to those who gave their all in defense of those freedoms.”

“Join me in thanking all those who help make this day what it is: A day of observance for those who gave some and some who gave all,” said Siegel.
