NORTH READING — Select jobs for the town of North Reading 2023–24 Senior Citizen Tax Rebate Program remain available.
To qualify for the program, the applicant must be a North Reading home-owning resident, be at least 60 years of age, and occupy the property for which the taxes are paid.
The program offers participants a rebate in the amount of up to $1,500 minus taxes and other deductions. The program cycle is open now and will end on or about October 4, 2024.
NEW COMMUNITY DRIVER POSITIONS
New to the program this year are community driver positions in which a program participant drives a North Reading resident to a medical appointment in a neighboring city or town, and occasionally in Boston. Drivers are subject to screening and must use their own vehicle to provide transportation. In addition to the tax rebate, mileage will be reimbursed at the IRS rate. Training for these positions will be provided.
