WAKEFIELD — The schedule for the 2025 Twi League playoffs is set. The two, best-of-three, semifinal series will start on Sunday.
The top-seeded and undefeated Brewers (12-0) will meet the 4th-seeded Loafers (5-7) on Sunday, 5 p.m. at Moulton Park. The Brewers concluded their second straight perfect regular season with a 5-2 victory over the Slappers last night.
The Loafers punched their ticket to the playoffs with a clutch, 11-5 win over the Unknowns on Tuesday. In the regular season, the Brewers beat the Loafers 15-2 on July 8 and 11-7 on July 30.
Game two is scheduled for Tuesday, 5:45 p.m. at Moulton and game three, if necessary, will be on Thursday, also 5:45 p.m. at Moulton.
The other opening-round series will also start 5 p.m. on Sunday as the No. 2 Slappers (7-4-1) will meet the No. 3 Expos (5-6-1) at Walsh Field. The Slappers played three times this week, going 2-1 against the High Life, Unknowns and Brewers. The Expos had the week off after finishing their regular season with a 7-3 win over the Unknowns on Aug. 1. The age-old playoff question of rest or rusty could affect the Expos in game one at Walsh. Game two is set for Monday and game three, if necessary, will be on Wednesday. Both of those are scheduled for 5:45 p.m. at Moulton.
The Expos had the upper-hand on the Slappers in the regular season. After the two tied 6-6 on June 30, the Expos won 4-2 the next night. The Expos then won an 8-7 thriller on July 21.
The winners of the two semifinal series will meet in a best-of-five finals the following week.
