MELROSE — The City of Melrose is sharing the following updates for the upcoming week:

Melrose Public Library reopens April 15
The newly renovated Melrose Public Library building at 69 West Emerson Street reopens to the public on Tuesday, April 15 at 10 a.m. The library will close at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 18 and be closed Sunday, April 20 and Monday, April 21, 2025, in observance of Easter and Patriots’ Day.

Upcoming holidays

Melrose Public Schools’ April break begins on Friday, April 18 at 12 p.m. Schools will be closed during the week of April 21. City Hall is open for regular hours on Friday, April 18, but some offices may have reduced staffing due to employee religious observances. All City offices, except police and fire stations, will be closed on Monday, April 21 in observance of Patriots’ Day. Trash and recycling will not be collected on April 21, and there will be a one-day delay in collection for the remainder of the week.

Summer work program accepting applications

The City is accepting applications for Temporary DPW Summer Helpers. Applicants aged 16 and older are welcome to apply. These positions will be filled if sufficient funding is available this summer. Summer Helpers play a crucial role in preparing school buildings for the next school year and in summer landscaping and maintenance across municipal properties.
