WAKEFIELD — PAWS would like to introduce you to a very special cat Aegon who is available for adoption. Although ancient Greek is the source of the word “aegon” you might recognize it from the fiction of George R.R. Martin, in particular his “A Song of Ice and Fire” series where it was a popular name in the ruling Targaryen dynasty; Aegon the Conqueror and Aegon the Dragon. In the fictional High Valyrian language, aegon meant “iron.”
True to his name, Aegon is a strong feline. He was rescued from a bleak outdoor existence and successfully transitioned to being an indoor cat. He is curious, carefully checking out new surroundings and spunky, happy to play with and chase toys. Food-motivated, he will take treats from a hand. He is pretty chill when meeting new people and in short order will rub up against a leg, seeking and accepting petting.
Still a youngster, having just turned six years old, Aegon is remarkable for his beautiful fur pattern. He is stunning with his four white boots, white tummy, chest and wide white ring around his neck. This handsome young male will be happy to keep you company and be the center of your attention. We think his best match is with an experienced, cat-savvy adopter who has no other furry pets or young children.
Aegon is one of many cats available for adoption from PAWS, the Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society, Inc. Founded in 1982, PAWS is an all-volunteer, 501c3 non-profit animal welfare organization that rescues, fosters and facilitates cat and kitten adoptions and provides animal welfare programs in the greater Wakefield area.
