Alice Jouvelis, 74

Loved her dogs and the beach

TEWKSBURY — Alice M. (Cabral) Jouvelis of Tewksbury, formerly of Wakefield, passed away on October 19 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, surrounded by her loving family. She was 74 years old.

Born in Somerville on May 2, 1949. Alice graduated from Somerville High School in 1967, then completed her certificate as a Dental Assistant from Northeastern University. She later pursued her passion for caring for others by graduating from Youville Hospital School of Nursing in 1989, where she was awarded the Excellence in Patient Care Award. Worked at renowned Joslin Clinic as a nurse and later worked as a Nurse Recruiter at Lahey Clinic for the last fifteen years where she mentored many newly licensed nurses.

Alice was a longtime resident of Wakefield for over 30 years where she enjoyed walking her dog with her late brother Frank. Alice loved spending time with her family and her dogs. Her dogs were extremely special to her. She always looked forward to family vacations in Myrtle Beach. Alice loved to laugh above all and her warm smile was contagious.

Beloved wife of Theodore J. Jouvelis, of Tewksbury. Devoted mother of John T. Jouvelis, of Tewksbury and daughter Diane A. Jouvelis, also of Tewksbury.

Loving daughter of Augustus and Helen Cabral, deceased. Alice was one of five siblings, all of whom she cherished. Sister of Paul Cabral and wife Donna of New Oxford, PA; Thomas Cabral and wife Marie of Saugus; Helen Pinto and husband Joseph of Burlington; and predeceased by loving brother Francis Cabral and wife Maria, formerly of Melrose. Sister- in-law of Jeanne Gianoukos and her husband Peter of Wakefield. Survived by many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday, October 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. Procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Thursday, October 26 at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
