Joseph Delcore, 81

Avid Boston sports fan who loved Salisbury beach

WAKEFIELD — Joseph C. Delcore, age 81, a longtime Wakefield resident, died Thursday, October 19 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. 

Born in Winthrop on September 23, 1942 he was the son of the late Daniel and Josephine (Merola) Delcore. Mr. Delcore was raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School. He matriculated to Dartmouth College, Class of 1964 and continued on to receive his law degree from Suffolk Law School. While in the midst of his undergraduate studies, he met his future wife, Barbara. When the two married they ultimately settled in Wakefield and raised their family. He was an avid Boston sports fan and loved Salisbury Beach. 

He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara M. (Putzel) Delcore. He was the loving father of Deborah M. McGovern of Stoneham; Christine E. Delcore and husband Jeffrey Lee of Lowell; David C. Delcore and wife Anne of Haverhill; Stephen W. Delcore and wife Angella of North Andover; and the late Daniel J. Delcore. He was the adoring grandfather of Rachel, Vivian, Marirose, Rosemarie, Ryan, Connor, Christopher and Owen. He was the brother of Daniel Delcore of Port Saint Lucie, FL and John Delcore and wife Kathy of Melrose. 

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday, October 23 (TODAY) from 4 to 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Forest Glade Cemetery, Lowell St., Wakefield on Tuesday, October 24 at 10 a.m. For the online guestbook and directions, please visit www.mcdonaldfs.com.
