THE FULL sturgeon moon appeared huge as it rose over Wakefield early last night. It was the first of two “supermoons” to illuminate the skies this month. The second one will appear on Aug. 30. When there are two super moons on one month, the second one is called a “blue moon.” A supermoon occurs when the moon’s orbit brings it closer to Earth than usual, making it appear slightly bigger and brighter than normal.
