WAKEFIELD — Marie (Jacquard) Sheppard, a lifelong resident of Wakefield passed away peacefully at Mary Immaculate in Lawrence on Monday, July 28 at the age of 94.

Marie lived in Wakefield for most of her life.  She raised eight children and was always caring for others. Everyone was welcome at her table, she used to say it was her blessing. She enjoyed reading, knitting and meeting up with her friends at McDonalds in Reading for coffee. Most of all, 4th of July celebrations in her backyard with family and friends. She was a proud member of St Joseph’s church in Wakefield. She will be greatly missed by all her family and many friends.

Marie was the beloved wife of the late Arthur W Sheppard. Loving mother of the late Stephen  Sheppard; the late William (Billy) Sheppard and his wife Pamela of Hudson, NH; John (Jack) Sheppard and his wife Doreen of Belmont, NH; Thomas Sheppard and his wife Carol Sheppard of Salem, NH; Andrew Sheppard and his wife Paula of Atkinson, NH; Mary Elizabeth (Sheppard) Coye and her husband David of Litchfield, NH; Leonard Sheppard of Wakefield; and the late Robert (Bobby) Sheppard. She was predeceased by her mother Mary Elizabeth (Meuse) Jacquard; her father John Nelson Jacquard; her brother John (Sonny) Jacquard; brother Raymond Jacquard; sister Lilianne Jacquard; brother Harold Jacquard; and her best friend and sister Marilyn (Jacquard) Reynolds. She is survived by her brother Andrew Jacquard; brother Leonard Jacquard; and sister Lynda Janerico.

There wasn’t anything she enjoyed more than being surrounded by family and friends. Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren: Billy Ray Sheppard and his wife Theresa; Jason Sheppard and his wife Erin Sheppard; Stephen Sheppard and his fiancé Christen Butters; Pamela (Sheppard) McLam and her husband Terrance; Arthur Sheppard; Lucas Sheppard and his wife Desiree; David Coye; Marie (Coye) Follis and her husband Timothy; and Jessica Sheppard and her partner Michael Hammond. Marie was also blessed with nine great grandchildren. 

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday, July 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 1 at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
