US veteran who worked in retail sales
WAKEFIELD — Nicholas “Buddy” Micelli, age 82 of Wakefield passed away on Friday, February 14 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
He was born in Boston on September 1, 1942 and was the son of the late Frank and Gloria (Medugno) Micelli. Buddy grew up in the North End of Boston. He went to barber school and worked as a barber in the North End and Brookline for ten years. Buddy played football for two years with the North End Athletic Association (NEAA). He joined the National Guard from 1964-1970. He worked for the department stores Zayre and Lechmere as a department manager in consumer electronic/appliance sales and also worked for Direct to Retail in sales until his retirement. Nick was a resident of Medford for 36 years and had been a Wakefield resident for the past 21 years.
He was the beloved husband of Susan (Alunni) Micelli. He was the brother of Frank Micelli and his wife Kathleen of North Reading. He was the brother-in-law of Concetta Alunni of Medford and Donald E. Alunni and his wife Joanne of Peabody. He was the uncle of Donald Alunni Jr. and his wife Allison of Peabody; Paul Alunni and his wife Laura of Middleton; and Jeanna Posteraro and her husband Carmen of Peabody. He was the great uncle of Gianna, Ava, Lucia, Dylan and Anthony. Nicholas was predeceased by his nephew Anthony Micelli. Buddy also leaves behind very close and dear friends of the North End.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Friday, February 21 at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield prior to the service from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
