Barbara Dolan-Grenham-Sbuttoni, 89

Cherished memories will live in the hearts of those who loved her

WAKEFIELD — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Shirley Dolan-Grenham-Sbuttoni, 89 of Wakefield who departed this life peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on April 7.

Family was the most important part of Barbara’s life. She was the proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Her love and devotion to her family knew no bounds and she took immense pride in watching her legacy grow through each generation.

Barbara was also a proud and accomplished professional, dedicating many years of her career to Biogen and MIT where she served as a Lab Manager. Her work ethic, leadership and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on her colleagues and the scientific community.

Beyond her professional achievements, Barbara was known for her fierce independence, her warm heart and her unwavering support for those she loved. She was a loyal friend, a cherished matriarch and a source of strength and wisdom to all who knew her.

Barbara’s legacy lives on through her family, the countless lives she touched and the many cherished memories that will live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Barbara was the devoted mother of five children: Pauline DeRoeck and her late husband Kenneth DeRoeck of Wakefield; James Grenham and his wife Diane Grenham of Wakefield; Mary Hamilton-Grenham and her partner Jane Hamilton of Woburn; and Barbara Ann Donovan and her husband William Donovan of Newburyport. She was predeceased by her beloved son John Grenham whose memory she held close to her heart every day.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham on Friday, April 11 at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday, April 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
