WAKEFIELD — Edward J. Corrigan passed away peacefully on February 27 at the age of 94 in Wakefield.
Edward was the son of the late Phillip and Mary (Gallagher) Corrigan. He was also predeceased by his twn siblings to whom he was a loving brother. Ed was raised in Everett, after High School he joined the Navy and proudly served his country for four years. Known for his strong work ethic, Ed was employed by First National Supermarkets for 49 years.
Ed was passionate about all Boston sports teams with a special love for the New England Patriots. He was a Patriots season ticket holder since 1960 and enjoyed attending games with family and friends. Over the years, he was fortunate enough to attend three Patriot Super Bowl games, enthusiastically cheering on his team. He treasured his time with family, always making holidays, special occasions and weekend barbecues memorable. In his retirement, Ed found joy in traveling especially spending winters in Florida with his beloved Norma where they made many lifelong friends.
Edward was the beloved husband of Norma (Moorehead) Corrigan with whom he shared 69 years of marriage. He was the devoted father to Kathleen Corrigan of Malden; Michael and his wife Debra Corrigan of Hudson, NH; Mary Anne and her husband Jeffrey Thompson of Wakefield; Maureen and her husband John Keegan of Wakefield; Edward Corrigan of Wakefield; and and the late Thomas Corrigan. Edward was a loving Papa to each of his grandchildren: Katelynn; Bryan and his wife Kristyn; Sean and his wife Erin; Joseph; Michael; Robert; Laura; Sarah; Emily; and Benjamin and his wife Mia. He was also blessed with three great grandchildren: Branson, Hadley and Phoebe.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster, Melrose, a Mass Of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield and Interment will follow in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
