William M. Dobbins, 75

US Marine served in Vietnam and was active in veterans’ affairs

MELROSE — William M. Dobbins, 75, of Melrose, Massachusetts, passed away at his home on June 1, 2025. 

He was a graduate of Wakefield School, Class of ’67, and he had many friends from his years in Wakefield, including Bob Simpson, Skip Simpson, Pat Golini and Bob Crosack. He was the son of the late Frederick and Evelyn Dobbins, who lived at 27 Penfield Circle where they raised their three children. 

He was predeceased by his sister Donna Marie Dobbins Curran. He is survived by his brother Brian Dobbins of Wakefield, his nephews Michael Curran of Nashua, NH, Timothy Curran of Manchester, NH, his great niece Sunny Curran of Boston, and his brother-in-law Stephen Curran of Nashua. 

Billy served in the U.S. Marine Corp in Vietnam. Billy went on to work at the VA Hospital in Bedford, Massachusetts for over 20 years. He was active in Veterans’ Affairs for which he received a Service Award from the Department of Veterans Affairs. 

He also enjoyed camping and fishing, and had an interest in nature and wildlife associations.

There will be a graveside service at the Veterans Section of Forest Glade Cemetery on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11 a.m. to which all are welcome. Arrangements were in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
