Enjoyed Cape Cod and walking on the beach

WAKEFIELD — Rudolf Wendler, 80, a longtime resident of Wakefield died at his home on Saturday, December 18.

Born in Somerville on February 6, 1941 he was the son of the late Rudolf H. Wendler and Dorothy (Moore) Wendler.

Rudolf was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. He was a retired metal finisher for Acton Metal Processing of Waltham. Rudolf enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod, walking on the beach and finding shells. He also enjoyed relaxing in the pool with family and friends, woodworking and playing board games.

Rudolf was the beloved husband of Joyce (Naylor) Wendler with whom he shared 41 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Lisa Wendler and her husband, George Walsh, of Lowell and step-father of Jennifer Santosuosso and her husband, Mark, of Pelham, NH. He was the grandfather of Matthew, Dylan and James. He was preceded in death by his brother, Russell Wendler.

His funeral service will be held at the McDonald funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m.

Interment, Lakeside Cemetery Wakefield.
