Had a vibrant personality and was always willing to help others

WAKEFIELD — William H. Dean, age 82, a longtime resident of Wakefield passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.

He was born in Melrose on January 25, 1940 and was the son of the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Ufford) Dean.

William (Bill) grew up in Malden and was a graduate of the Malden High School class of 1958. Upon graduating he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his discharge he met the love of his life, Judy, while they were employed at Transitron. They were blessed with a loving marriage for 59 years and three beautiful daughters, who they raised in Wakefield. After spending 35 years as a professional, union truck driver, Bill enjoyed his retirement spending time in Aruba, golfing, fishing, watching the Patriots and spending time with his family. Bill had a vibrant personality and you could always count on him to make you laugh with his playful jokes and prankster ways. One of his greatest qualities was his willingness to help others, which he did generously throughout his life. In the neighborhood, he was well known for his beautifully landscaped yard where you would always find him working and conversing with neighbors.

He was the beloved husband of the late Judith (Brooks) Dean and the loving father of Patricia Duhaime of Lynnfield, Rosemary Pellegrini of Lynnfield and Brenda Lee Clark of Saugus. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren Ashley, Kimberly and Jessica Duhaime; Giulio, Brianna, and Alexander Pellegrini; and Patrick Pierce. He was also the brother of Timothy Dean of Billerica, and the late Beverly Indorato, Charlotte O’Brien, and Judy Carlson.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street, Wakefield on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 12 pm. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Avenue, Wakefield on Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 2-5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in Bill’s name may be made to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
