SPRINGFIELD — Emma Shinney, Wakefield High class of 2023, continued her terrific sophomore season for the Endicott Women’s basketball team by leading the Gulls to a 64-58 victory over Western New England in the Conference of New England Championship on March 1 at WNE.
Shinney finished with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in nearly a full 40 minutes of play.
Endicott recently fell to Cortland 48-46 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Shinney was named to the All-CNE First Team this season. In the regular season, she posted career-highs of 13.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.6 steals. She led the CNE in assists for the second straight season.
Her consistency on both ends of the floor enabled the Gulls to be a top team in the conference both defensively and offensively. Endicott finished the year with an overall record of 22-6.
Shinney, a three-time Middlesex League All-Star at Wakefield High, became the first player in Endicott history with two career 12+ assist games after her 12-assist evening against Gordon on Dec. 7.
