WOBURN — The Middlesex League Championship meet was once again held at the Woburn Country Club on Monday. It’s a long-standing tradition to compete on the golf course dating back to 1970. The Wakefield boys’ cross country team had a strong day, placing 4th out of the 12 teams in the Middlesex League. Winchester placed 1st followed by Lexington, then Reading, all Liberty Division large schools followed by the Freedom Division champion Warriors who scored 102 points.
Ollie Polster led the way for the Warriors with an amazing performance and 13th place finish running a time of 16:00, almost a minute better than his run from last year.
William Mezikofsky also ran a much improved race from last year finishing in 16th in a time of 16:06.
Brandon Nett placed 21st with an improved time of 16:14.
Liam Taggart placed 23rd in his first championship cross country race with a time of 16:16.
Michael Arria placed 29th in 16:28 for his fastest race of the season.
Andrew Nett had a personal best of 16:43 to place 39th. Ethan Mezikofsky also ran a personal best of 16:47 placing 42nd. Both were well ahead of their times from last year.
In the JV race, the Warriors finished behind Lexington placing 2nd overall. Brendan Campea placed 11th in 17:08. George Palmer was 13th in a time of 17:16. Robert Brown was 14th in a time of 17:21. Tyler Galante placed 18th in a time of 17:26, over 2 minutes faster than his race last year.
Jacob Ciriello placed 20th in 17:27. David Rocca placed 27th in 17:50. Max Viselli placed 28th in 17:51. Marcello Caruso placed 38th in a time of 18:12. Joe Patt placed 40th in 18:18. Devin DeBeradinis placed 42nd in 18:25. Aidan Martin ran 18:56. Adam Lambiaso ran 19:07. Ryan Paige ran 19:09. Brody Wyatt ran 20:09. Ben Hickey ran 21:26.
The Freshmen finished 3rd overall. Liam Kelley placed an impressive 4th overall in a time of 9:59. Evan Buonopane-Cohen placed 17th in 10:44. Taylor Miller placed 28th in 11:23. Zach Richardson placed 31st in 11:28.
Zach Davidson placed 38th in 1146. Sean Marra placed 39th in 11:53. Eddie Palmer placed 44th in 12:16. Brendan Pritchard placed 45th in 12:26. Jackson Conley placed 46th in 12:34. Luc Laverdiere placed 52nd in 12:43. Kayden Xu placed 53rd in 12:46.
The Warriors will head to the MSTCA Coaches Invitational this Saturday in Wrentham.
