
NEW YORK, NY — The Wakefield High girls’ and boys’ indoor track and field teams each sent multiple competitors to the Nike Indoor Nationals held at The Armory in New York City last weekend.
Six Warriors represented the girls’ team.
On Friday, the girls’ Sprint Medley Relay team of freshman Talia Galante, junior Abby Hartigan, sophomore Quin Wilcox and senior Lily Salle ran a time of 4:31.51.
On Saturday, the girls’ 4×800 meter relay team of Wilcox, freshman Ella Ferrell, freshman Laurel Renzi and Sallee ran a time of 10:02.09, a near season best.
On Sunday, Wilcox also ran a personal best of 2:19.72 in the 800 meters.
Five Warriors represented the boys’ team in NYC.
A school record was performed by the boys’ 4×400 meter relay team of junior Isaac Melo, junior Aidan Burd, senior Ethan Mezikofsky and senior Brody Wyatt. They raced to a time of 3:29.94 to break their own record from earlier in the season.
The boys’ Sprint Medley Relay team of sophomore Jackson Conley, Melo, Wyatt and Mezikofsky also competed and ran a time of 3:44.61.
