Worked for several Wakefield companies and was an avid Red Sox fan

METHUEN — Esterina A. “Ester” (Puglia) Marcotte, 84, of Methuen, formerly of Wakefield and Reading died on Friday, July 19, 2019 at The Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.

Ester was born in Somerville on November 16, 1934 and was the daughter of the late John and Concetta (Maiello) Puglia.

Ester was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. After high school, she worked in Boston for the Registrar of Motor Vehicles until she married and started her family. She was a longtime Wakefield resident of Summer Street for 40 years and had worked for many Wakefield companies such as Kytron, Stevens Automotive, and Walden Supply. She was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

Ester was the beloved wife of the late Bernard E. “Butch” Marcotte. She was the loving mother of Paul Marcotte and his wife Monica, Robert Marcotte and his wife Lisa, Marie B. Lyons and her husband Ron, Eliane Reese and her husband Jeff all of N.H., and Donna Marcotte and her husband Bill of Pa. She was the sister of the late Lito, Vincent, Ugo, Umberto and Carl Puglia, the late Rose Mastro and the late Mary Amato. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Christine and her husband Tom, Elizabeth and her fiancée Jack, Michael, Domanic and his wife Samantha, Gina and her two great-grandchildren Damien and Wyatt. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Betty Puglia.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield, Wednesday, July 24 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be private.
