STONEHAM — The Wakefield High golf team sent three of their best up Prospect Street on Sept. 29 for the annual Middlesex League Shootout held at Bear Hill Golf Club.
Wakefield finished in 4th out of the 12 teams.
“This was our best overall finish in several years and these three seniors have been leading the way all year,” said head coach Chris Keane.
Those three seniors were Drew Barrett, Joe Colliton and John Porter.
Porter shot an 88 and Colliton shot an 86.
Barrett shot a 78, which was good for 6th overall in the 36-person field.

After completing the Shootout in the morning the three joined the rest of their teammates at Bellevue Country Club in the afternoon to take on Freedom Division best Melrose. The Warriors fell by a score of 50.5-21.5.
Wakefield returned home to Thomson Country Club on Monday to take on a tough Lexington squad where they fell by a score of 43-29.
Colliton and Sara Nemec won their individual matchups.
Although that loss sent Wakefield’s record to 3-6 overall, the Warriors are still hungry to accomplish their goal of making the state tournament. Wakefield would need to go 4-1 in their final five matches to make the tourney.
That quest starts today back at Bear Hill where Wakefield will meet Stoneham at 3:45 p.m.
