The Wakefield High boys’ and girls’ track and field teams are still accepting new members for the spring season. Those interested can try sprinting, throwing, jumping, pole vault or distance running. An updated physical is needed to participate.
Practice is Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m. Sprinters and jumpers focus on drills, short sprinting exercises, technique and weight training. Distance training focuses on miles, speed work, stamina work and weight training. Thrower training focus on throwing the shot put, discus, or javelin, technique drills and weight training.
