Warrior boys’ track has multiple highlights at Middlesex League meet

BOSTON — The Wakefield High boys’ track and field team competed in the Middlesex League Championship on Feb. 3 at the New Balance Track just one day after the New Balance Grand Prix featured many Olympians including multiple gold medalists from Paris last Summer.

In the shot put, Frankie Sullivan placed 2nd with a throw of 45’11.75”. Carter Jefferson placed 17th with a personal best of 38’0.5”.

In the high jump, JaMauri Belmer placed 2nd clearing 6 feet.

In the long jump, Belmer placed 4th with a leap of 20’10.5”.  Sophomore Jack Maksou placed 16th with a jump of 18’4.5”.

In the 55 meters, Adam Levy placed 17th with a season best of 7.04. Belmer was 18th with a personal best of 7.05.

In the 300 meters, sophomore Jackson Conley made the podium with a personal best and state qualifying time of 37.54. Edgard Meneguello placed 9th with a personal best of 37.67 also qualifying for states.

In the 600 meters, Ethan Mezikofsky placed 5th with a time of 1:24.97. Isaac Melo was 13th in 1:28.83. Sophomore Evan Buonopane-Cohen placed 19th in 1:31.08.

In the 1000 meters, Aidan Burd placed 14th in 2:48.01. Aidan Martin placed 25th in a time of 2:55.51.

In the mile, Max Viselli had a personal best of 4:44.19 placing 16th.  Jacob Ciriello placed 23rd in 4:55.

In the 2 mile, Brandon Nett placed 9th with a personal best of 10:13.61. Andrew Nett placed 14th with a time of 10:22.19.

In the 55 meter hurdles, Martin placed 17th with a personal best of 9.31. Jefferson placed 21st with a time of 9.59.

The 4×200 meter relay team of Meneguello, Conley, Brody Wyatt, and Melo placed 7th with a time of 1:36.04.

The 4×800 meter relay team of Mezikofsky, Burd, Buonopane-Cohen and Viselli placed 1st in a time of 8:50.
