State gives town school safety money

WAKEFIELD — The School Department got good news yesterday.

The Patrick Administration has awarded nearly $200,000 in school safety and security grants to 15 school districts in the state and Wakefield was chosen to receive $10,000 of that amount.

Woman hit by car near Common

WAKEFIELD — Police said a 52-year-old woman from Wakefield was taken to Lahey Clinic in Burlington Sunday after being struck by an 88-year-old man from Lynnfield operating a 2008 Chevrolet Impala.
